An Insider's Guide to Where to Eat, Play & Stay in Tokyo
Japan takes everything to an entirely new level. It takes good things — sushi, art, design, pizza, hospitality, coffee, shopping — and makes them great. Even the country’s 7/11’s are immaculate, and make perfect settings for a quick, gourmet meal — not an oxymoron.
Japan has always been popular, and in the last couple years, the country has been incubating. A slate of new luxury hotels and developments has popped up in Tokyo, in particular. While foreigners were temporarily denied entry, the city kept getting better and better (as if Tokyo weren’t an incredible destination already).
Meander around the city’s numerous parks (Imperial Palace Park is particularly inviting), partake in a traditional Japanese tea ceremony, sample the city’s slew of exceptional dining outlets — from holes-in-the-wall to Michelin-Starred destination restaurants — and peruse its eclectic selection of boutiques, department stores, shopping arcades and megastores. Tokyo is where you can experience something unlike you’ve ever had, where you’ll feel like a fish out of water — all while being extremely safe. An Insider's Guide to Where to Eat, Stay & Play in Morocco
If you’re looking to be enchanted, consider Morocco. The country offers a bit of everything: dynamic multiculturalism, stunning architecture, vibrant cities, beaches, nature escapes…Whatever your travel style, Morocco more than delivers.
Meander the maze-like souks, marketplaces and medinas (historical districts) of the country’s urban centers, from Casablanca to Fez, Marrakech to Essaouira. Savor fragrant tagines, herbal teas, fresh seafood and spices galore. Marvel at the intricate tilework and calligraphy that adorns much of Morocco’s buildings. Relax in a traditional hammam. Hike the Atlas Mountains. You won’t be at a loss for things to enjoy.
Morocco offers so much, and you'll want to build out your itinerary based on the time you have available, as well as your goals for what you want to see. Below, I’ve put together a sample itinerary of a few favorite places to visit, plus where to stay, what to do and where to eat in each location. (The country's allure extends well beyond these spots.) If you're flying from the States and want to stick to a direct flight, you’ll fly into Casablanca, Morocco’s commercial hub. From New York City, it's only a seven-hour flight. You can also opt for a layover somewhere like Amsterdam or Paris.
The below is just a sample of all that’s available, of course, rooted in Fes, Marrakech and Essaouira, each of which has a unique vibe. Depending on your travel style and preferences, you may want to spend more time here, a little less time there. Everything can be customized. (For instance, if you want to spend more time in the desert, we can swap out one of the destinations.) Not to worry: connect with me, and I’ll tailor a dream itinerary specific to you. Regardless, Morocco is calling, and now is the perfect time to travel.
An Insider's Guide to Where to Eat, Stay & Play in Palm Springs
During Hollywood’s Golden Era in decades past, Palm Springs’s proximity to Los Angeles (as well as San Diego and Orange County) made it a popular spot for Hollywood icons who wanted to escape their fame-induced scrutiny. Gossip columnists could not pursue the stars there (the journalists could only expense travel within 100 miles of LA; Palm Springs is just over the limit). People also flocked to the desert oasis for health reasons (that dry desert air can be healing), and the city became known as a wellness destination.
Today, Palm Springs retains the glamor of Hollywood — with a modern twist. Apart from being the site of Coachella, the boho, star-studded music festival each April, the city is a veritable destination in and of itself. Charming boutiques and restaurants line its sunny streets. Mid-century modern architecture lends it a retro-chic vibe. It’s easy to stay active here: there are ample hiking and biking trails, plus golf courses and tennis courts.
You’ll never run out of activities to enjoy in this delightful escape of a town. Below, I’ve outlined a few favorite things to do, plus places to eat and stay. There is so much more Palms Springs has to offer, and when you connect with me, I’ll curate a trip specific to your preferences. In the meantime, read on for a little travel inspiration for a dreamy desert getaway.
An Insider's Guide to Where to Eat, Stay & Play in New Zealand
There’s a reason more and more people seem to be taking up permanent residence in New Zealand. The South Pacific country is naturally stunning and deeply connected to its idyllic surroundings. Its culinary scene is a wonderland of farm-to-table dining, and it’s not hard to find organic wines made from regeneratively farmed grapes. Local sourcing is the rule rather than the exception.
The people, too, are warm and welcoming, with a sunny disposition and an all-around positive vibe. New Zealand’s rich Māori heritage only adds to the country’s vibrancy. Below is a brief overview of some of New Zealand’s best places to visit, on both its North and South Island. This barely scratches the surface, but it can help narrow down what you’re looking for and provide some inspiration for an upcoming trip.
When you connect with me, I’ll create a customized itinerary specific to you and your preferences (or just a hotel booking, if that's all you need). In a country this special, opportunities abound.
