Go Somewhere. Make Something. Come Home Different.
our manifesto
We go because sometimes you have to leave home to hear yourself again.
Because there are parts of us that only seem to wake up somewhere else.
In a strange city. In front of a painting. On a train headed somewhere we can’t pronounce. Alone at a hotel bar with a book. Halfway up a mountain. Three days into a writing retreat when the sentence finally comes.
Or maybe just turning down a street we weren’t planning to take.
Wanderslut is for people who want more from going away than a vacation.
We believe travel can interrupt the stories we’ve gotten too comfortable telling ourselves. That creativity needs curiosity. That getting lost occasionally is good for you. That art, books, food, landscape, conversation, pleasure, solitude, and a really fucking good hotel can all change the way we see the world.
And sometimes ourselves.
We believe in following an obsession a little too far.
Ordering the thing you can’t pronounce. Talking to the stranger. Staying for one more drink. Swimming naked when no one is looking. Buying the ridiculous earrings. Taking the train. Missing the train. Reading the plaque. Ignoring the map.
Not because you have to be fearless.
You don’t.
You don’t have to be the woman who quits her job and moves to Paris. You don’t have to travel alone. You don’t have to climb the mountain, know the artist, speak the language, or have any idea what you’re doing.
You just have to be curious about what might happen if you go.
We travel to make things. To remember things. To want things again. To follow a writer across a city, a painter into the desert, a story all the way to another country.
Sometimes we go because we know exactly what we’re looking for.
Sometimes we go because we don’t.
Both count.
Maybe you come home with twenty pages.
Maybe you come home with a new favorite city, a questionable haircut, three books you definitely did not have room for, or a version of yourself you’d forgotten existed.
Maybe nothing enormous happens at all.
You just notice something.
That counts, too.
Wanderslut isn’t about escaping your life.
It’s about leaving long enough to see it differently.
Go somewhere. Make something. Come home different.
Choose Your Road
Go Somewhere. Beautiful hotels, thoughtful itineraries, literary pilgrimages, art-filled weekends, solo adventures and trips built around what fascinates you.
Make Something. Bespoke creative retreats for writers, artists and curious people who need time, space and a change of scenery to make whatever is trying to come through.
Come Home Different. Breathwork, hypnosis and private mentorship for the internal journey, whether or not you're going anywhere.
GO AWAY. MAKE THE THING.
Sometimes the thing standing between you and the work isn’t another productivity hack.
It’s distance.
A different room. A different view. A few days when nobody needs anything from you. A museum in the afternoon, a table by the window, dinner alone somewhere beautiful, and enough empty space for your brain to start wandering again.
Wanderslut Solo Creative Retreats are bespoke getaways for writers, artists, and curious people who need time and space to make something, begin something, finish something, or simply find their way back to their creative selves.
We’ll choose the place, find the right hotel, and build a retreat around what you actually need, with creative rituals, cultural inspiration, beautiful things to see and eat, and plenty of deliberately unscheduled time.
Because sometimes the most productive thing you can do is leave.
A creative retreat, built entirely around you.

Meet Rachel
I’m Rachel Baila, a writer, traveler, creative mentor, and the woman behind Wanderslut.
I’ve spent a lot of my life following stories, across pages, cities, museums, hotel bars, and occasionally down roads I probably should have researched first.
I have an MFA in Creative Writing, work as an editor and writing mentor, and have spent years studying the ways creativity changes when we change our surroundings. I’m also trained in breathwork, hypnosis, and sound healing, which means I’m just as interested in the landscapes inside us as the ones we cross to get somewhere else.
Wanderslut is where all of those obsessions meet.
I believe curiosity is more useful than fearlessness, creativity needs room to wander, and sometimes changing your life begins with changing the view.
